    Big Edits Privacy Policy

    Last updated: March 2026

Bread and Circuses ("we", "us", or "our") operates Big Edits (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data when you use the Service.

    1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly, including your email address, account credentials, and any preferences you set within the Service. We also collect usage data such as competitors you track, content alerts you configure, and how you interact with the Service.

    2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to provide and improve the Service, send reports and content alerts (via email and connected third-party platforms such as Slack), process billing, and communicate important updates about your account.

    3. Data from Third-Party Websites

Big Edits monitors publicly available blog content and RSS feeds from competitor websites you specify. This data is used solely to provide you with content intelligence and analysis. We do not scrape or collect private or login-gated content.

    4. Slack Integration & Third-Party Platform Data

When you connect Big Edits to a Slack workspace, we collect and store the following data to deliver reports to your chosen channel:

    • Slack workspace ID and name — to identify which workspace you have connected.
    • Channel ID and name — to deliver reports to the channel you selected during authorization.
    • Bot OAuth access token — to post messages on your behalf. Tokens are stored encrypted at rest.
    • Bot user ID — to identify our bot within your workspace.

What we do NOT collect: Big Edits does not read, store, or process any Slack messages, files, user profiles, or other workspace content. We only use the permissions required to post reports to the channel you have authorized. We do not use any Slack data to train machine learning models.

Your Slack connection may be revoked at any time from the Big Edits Settings page or by removing the Big Edits app from your Slack workspace admin panel. Upon disconnection, all stored Slack tokens and workspace metadata are permanently deleted within 24 hours.

    5. Data Received but Not Used

During normal operation, our servers may receive incidental data from third-party platform payloads (such as user IDs in Slack OAuth callbacks or system-level logging metadata). This data is used solely for authentication and error diagnosis and is never stored beyond transient server logs, which are automatically purged after 30 days.

    6. Data Security

We implement appropriate security measures to protect your personal information, including encryption of sensitive credentials at rest and in transit (TLS 1.2+). Access to production systems is restricted to authorized personnel. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

    7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Upon account deletion, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, including all Slack tokens, competitor data, and report history, except where we are required by law to retain it.

    8. Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. We do not use third-party tracking cookies or sell your data to advertisers.

    9. Your Rights — Access, Transfer & Deletion

You have the right to access, correct, transfer, or delete your personal data. You can:

    • Access your data at any time through the Settings page or by contacting us.
    • Export your data (available to Pro subscribers via CSV export).
    • Request deletion of your account and all associated data by emailing us at support@bigedits.com or through the in-app contact form.
    • Request data portability — we will provide your data in a commonly used, machine-readable format within 30 days of your request.

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or California, you may have additional rights under GDPR or CCPA respectively. We will honor all valid data subject requests.

    10. Email Communications

We send transactional emails (account verification, password reset, and content reports you have configured). We will only send marketing or promotional emails if you have explicitly opted in. You may opt out of marketing emails at any time via the Settings page.

    11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on this page, updating the "Last updated" date, and, where appropriate, sending you an email notification.

    12. Contact
